Every Sunday, Martha presented the Modified Grand Prix where she very generously sponsored the entry fees for all riders under the age of 25 and riding under the amateur status. Why? To encourage them to take the plunge and compete against a field of professionals and eventually step up to the FEI level. That leg up into tougher competition gave these riders, who have maybe been hesitant to give it a try in the first place, the confidence to take a shot at the top prize and compete against the best. Because as we all say: We have to compete against the best to be the best!
This being said, Martha came forward and introduced the brand new Leading U25/Amateur rider award in the Modified Grand Prix. A whole separate prize dedicated to the highest placed rider of that category. Our winners of this years first BDF Equestrian & the Younger-Millar Family were as follows: Sam Walker, the Headwaters Cup. Barbara Ruziska, the Champions. Mathieu Michot, The International & The National.
We hope to continue seeing our up and coming generations of hopeful Team Canada representatives improve under the tutelage of their trainers and the guidance of our community. Because of Mrs. Younger’s generosity and support, Angelstone is able to continue playing a big part in the growth and caliber of show jumping here in Canada.
