The Young Horse Finals were held here at Angelstone just this past Sunday. The youngsters competed for over two rounds, one held on Friday and the Finals on Sunday. The cumulative points over the two rounds determined the winner. Course designer Ramin Shafiee put the horses to the test, over courses set for their respective ages. These courses varied in heights and level of difficulty according to the horse’s age groups. Many very promising young horses attended these finals from both sides of the Canadian-American border.
Our five-year-old finals winner, BSH Matinee is owned, trained and ridden by Shawn Butler. The pair finished on a total of 0 faults over the two rounds. Incanto Nottumo was our reserve champion of the same division. Owned, trained & ridden by Alex Jamael, Incanto Nottumo accumulated a total of 3 faults to secure their reserve champion title. Six-year-old champions were Kristjan Good & Salvo RSF for owner SLG Equine Distributors and trainer Shara Pavan. Salvo RSF produced two clear rounds, leaving their grand total score at 0. Ava, ridden by Kaila Robert ended up with a total of 4 faults over the two rounds, earning the reserve championship title. Ava is owned by Les Écuries La Montée, and trained by Vanessa Robert. Kelley Robinson and her seven-year-old mount Lise swept the championships by being fastest and fault free in both rounds. Lise is owned by Kelley and trained by David Robinson. Reserve champions were Zeppelin Du Sud Z & Jennifer Mattell. Zeppelin Du Sud Z also produced two beautiful clear rounds. However, less than one second in the jump-off kept her off the lead and secured the reserve champion title. Zeppelin Du Sud Z is owned by the Zeppelin Group and trained by Francis Berger.Thank you to all owners, trainers, and riders for your attendance to this year’s edition of our Young Horse Championship series. We are excited to see how bright the future of our sport is with these very promising young jumpers! Congratulations to all and see you next year!
