August at Angelstone continues for its second week of the summer tour, and the second phase of the Kubota Triple Crown. Three FEI competitions are to be held this week, as we started off Wedne

sday with a 1.40M Speed class won by Jeff Brandmaier, who piloted his mare Jenny Van Vet Waterblock to the fastest time, redeeming himself from a close second place finish in the same event last week! New 2018 sponsor Equus Integral hosts the Open Welcome held yesterday evening in the main stadium. Joining us this week for our FEI classes are riders Erynn Ballard, Juan Pablo Gnecco, Molly Ashe-Cawley, Ali Ramsay, Courtney & Ainsley Vince, Melissandre Lincourt and Alexanne Thibault. Thirty-one horse an

d rider combinations took on the challenge with twelve of these combinations advancing to the jump off. Unfortunately, the time allowed proved to be a huge factor in yesterday’s class as eleven riders exceeded the time allowed in the first round, keeping them from qualifying for the jump off.

A fast jump off made for a crowd-pleasing and exciting class for all to watch, as we watched riders race to the last fence, an oxer situated right by the in-gate. For Freedom Z, the thirteen-year-old gelding by For Pleasure and his long-term partner Keean White crossed the finish timers in the time of 36.9 seconds, fastest and clear for the win! Keean was also third, on the blazing fast and careful 8-year-old mare Leilani; with which he won the Grand Prix here this past Saturday. Leslie Howard joined white on the podium last night on her horse Quadam, she crossed the finish line in 38.00 seconds.

Next up, Pony and Derby day!
