The fourth stop on Lothlorien’s Young Horse Championship Series took place
this week at the Cornerstone Premier II show in Barrie, ON.

The five-year-old division had 11 horses competing, with the red ribbon going to Kevin Crosby riding Lausanne Z for Jaybird Farm. This was the first time Lausanne Z had competed in the 2012 series. Kevin said of his mount “I think this is a fantastic young horse, and I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to compete with him”. The leader of the 5-year-olds
through four events continues to be Delany, owned by Barbara Mitchell.

The six-year-olds saw 8 horses through the gate with red ribbon honours going to King’s Ransome 3E owned by Kingridge Stables and piloted by Hugh Graham. Hugh is a member of the 2012 Young Horse Championship committee that came together to save this series when it looked as though it would go on no longer. Hugh said of his win and the series “It’s great to be able to have a special class for these young horses to compete against their peers.
It is a great class to win, and a great opportunity for Kingridge to showcase all of their young horses”. La Fleur and Robert Krcmar continues to lead the six-year-olds through four events by a single point over Beam P and Natasha Smith-Avery.

The seven and eight-year-old competition this week proved to be quite difficult as only two horses managed to navigate the first round without a fault. The win went to Qairdam de Belheme owned by Ashlyn Trevelyan and ridden by Roberto Teran. Roberto managed to squeak by ADC Chef Z and Miguel Elicagaray in the jump-off who had to settle for second. In the overall standings through four events, Kevin Crosby and Cassius Clay have a commanding 14 point lead.

We are still waiting for our first multiple winners in 2012. Multiple winners in 2012 will be pursuing the $2500 Dutch Masters Bonus.
