The second Friday of June is always our favorite at Angelstone! The ponies were at center stage yesterday competing in The Great Pony Challenge! What a spectacular display of costumes and sportsmanship by all throughout the day! We had a record number of entries for the challenge this year with fifty-three ponies participating! Creativity came into play for costumes, where fifteen teams of three dressed up as “Pyjama Party”, “Future Captain Canada”, “Aladin”, newly crowned champions “The Raptors”, “Super Ponies”, “Jockey Club”, “Circus Ringmasters”, “Circus clowns”, “ Under the Sea“, “Triple Crown”, “Hippies”, “A day at the Races” , “Gryffindor Quidditch Team”, “Kaiser’s Boss Babies”. The individual winner was Beatrice Sutcliffe, who piloted her grey pony Wray Acres Amythest to a perfect round, also representing team Aladin! Well done, Beatrice!
The team celebrations continued on the podium, where the team “Under the Sea” stood on the top step, followed by teams “a day at the races” and “The Raptors”. A fun day was had by all pony riders and parents and we thank everyone for their dedication to this class, efforts in creating outstanding costumes and participating in the fun Pony PotLuck! We already look forward to The Great Pony Challenge, 2020 edition!
The action continued across the way in the derby ring, where another group of record entries, fifty-three horses competed in both the Junior Amateur and Open derbies! The challenging course included a series of tests in tight turns, hand galloping, high low options, jump and line options where riders chose the most suitable track for each horse. Once again, the derby master Kristjan Good took home the top three spots aboard Salvo RSF with a score of 103, Diamo Blue and Robson with scores of 100 and 99.5 respectively. Top honors in the Junior Amateur derby went to Vanderbilt, ridden by Katie Sheedy!
Super Saturday is up next, for the CSI 2* Grand Prix, Presented by Delta Hotels!
