MAY 23, 2013 โ€“ ROCKWOOD, ON – The Angelstone International Show Jumping Tournament season kicked off today with the first day of the Angelstone Spring Phase I CSI**. Despite severe thunderstorms Tuesday evening, the competition rings at Angelstone were in perfect condition for Wednesday, demonstrating the clear value in the investments Angelstone has made this season with the introduction of three new All-Weather rings by ESI. As the newest addition to the venue, the ESI hunter ring was well-received by all competitors and Angelstone is looking forward to opening the venue’s new ESI All-Weather Annex schooling ring on Friday morning.

The main stadium hosted the $2,500 1.40m Welcome Wednesday afternoon presented by ESI. Connor Swail rode to victory on Susan Granges ‘Game Ready’. The course, designed by Anthony Dambrosio (SP), was a friendly opening day course yielding five clear rounds.

Thursday will feature the second qualifying event of the 2013 Young Horse Championship presented by Lothlorien and the $33,000 FEI Open Welcome CSI** and will include many of the top names in International Show Jumping, including Conor Swail, Roberto Teran, Karen Cudmore, Jill Henselwood and Ian Millar.

Admission to Thursday’s FEI Open Welcome is free for the general public and will kick off at 6:00 pm followed by the Opening Night at the Cloud9 Nightclub from 8:00 pm until midnight.
