Angelstone Puts Young Horses in The Spotlight! 

Many feature classes are to be found on our show schedule, added to “The Internationa” and “The National” schedule is the young horse championship. The semi-finals took place this past Sunday, where horses were categorized by age, and a course was designed appropriately for them, according to their age and level. These championships are believed to be a fantastic opportunity for breeders, riders, and trainers and owners to bring along the next generation of top horses in North America, and encourage the growth and excellence of our sport nationwide.

Thirteen of five-year-old horses competed in yesterday’s $3,000 semi-finals, Hyde Moffatt rode his mount Avonlea, owned by Alan Manning to the top of the leaderboard. Following Moffat was rider Kristjan Good & Iconic for owner Sarah Bellamy. ISA Perina F earned the third place award under Irishman William Hickey riding for the North Star Farm of Buffalo, NY.

The six-year-old top three were as follows; Paul Halpern & Esra earned the red ribbon, Esra is owned by Vanessa Lee. John Jamieson and his own Charlie Chaplin were the second, and the third was North Star owned Hercules, once again piloted by William Hickey. 

Sixteen of seven-year-old horses took the stage to conclude our week here at Angelstone. Kelley Robinson and her speedy grey horse Lise took home the win, followed by Jill Henselwood & Continue and Jennifer Mattell riding Zeppelin Du Sud Z. 

Young Horse Championship Final round 1 will be held on this Friday, August 31st, and Final round 2  on Sunday, September 2nd in the main stadium! Good luck to all participants!
