Carly Campbell-Cooper Cruises to Derby Win
at the Hunter Spectacular
September 1, 2013 – ROCKWOOD, ON – Hunter week peaked on Saturday evening at the Angelstone National Phase II with a beautiful Derby course designed by Jeremy Denouden. Thirty-one riders competed in the $3,000 Canadian Hunter Derby presented by Manning Equine. The spectacular jumps filled the Angelstone Stadium and challenged the riders by providing copious handy options.
Carly Campbell-Cooper put in an impressive round aboard her mount Winston, earning a score of 108. Winston, owned by Amanda Gellis, was jumping in perfect form as Campbell-Cooper expertly maneuvered him around the course for the win. Ashley McInnis piloted Prudence, owned by Carolynne Jardine, to a second-place finish with a score a 102. Derby master Hugh Graham ended up in a third-place with a score of 101 aboard Judgement Day 3E, owned by Kingridge Stables.
The Angelstone Stadium was packed with spectators out to support the hunter talent in one of the most challenging courses designed this year. The riders put on a show for the crowd by showing off their handy skills over the jumps, designed based on natural obstacles. It was a great night for the hunter riders and horses.
