The 2012 Lothlorien young horse championship wrapped up tour stop #7 this week in Palgrave, Ontario. With a record 102 horses registered in the 2012 series, the battle for the 2012 Championship is really starting to heat up!
The Events got underway Thursday with the 5 year old class. The red ribbon went to Kevin Crosby riding Lausanne Z for Jaybird Farms. This is the second win for Lausanne in the series. Kevin commented after the class “I’m going after the Dutchmaster Bonus!!”, after winning both of the two events he has participated in. With 6 events remaining it is definitely possible. Leading the way though the seventh event continues to be Barbara Mitchel’s Delany, also ridden by Kevin Crosby with 68 points.
Friday was host to the 6-year-old event where another multiple winners in Knock Out 3E took the red ribbon for Kingridge stables. This was the second win of the season for Knock Out 3E ridden by veteran Hugh Graham. Robert Krcmar continues to lead the series after a fourth-place finish in qualifier #7 with La Fleur.
Saturday proved to be a foot race as all but two horses in the 7/8-year-old qualifier advanced to the jump-off. Again Hugh Graham took the red ribbon, this time riding In The Money 3E owned by Kingridge stables. The overall leader continues to be Kevin Crosby on Cassius Clay who is holding a commanding lead over Zanzibar and Christine Wiggins.
The chase for the Dutch Master bonus has really heated up. Bianca Lafontaine and Widecat swept all three 6-year-old qualifiers in Quebec and are halfway to the $2500 Dutchmaster Bonus. In hot pursuit of Bianca are both Knock Out 3E and Lausanne Z, each with two wins a piece. With 6 events remaining in the 2012 season the chase is on!
