June 12, 2016 โ€“ ERIN, ON โ€“ Angelstone Tournaments is excited to continue The Great Pony Challenge on Friday afternoon, June 17th in ESI Main Hunter ring at The Headwaters Cup.

  • $1,000 Classic (individual) / Prize Money: $400/200/150/100/80/70
  • $500 Team Event (team of three) / Prize Money: $150/100/90/60/50/50

Includes a Classic. It is open to all small, medium and large ponies and the price of the classic will be included in the division fee. The GPC will have two sets of ribbons to eight. There will be ribbons for the top eight team awards and ten individual ribbons, which will count for zone points. It is a one round format. Teams will consist of three ponies each and can be comprised of any combination of smalls, mediums, or larges.

With no entry fee(entry fee is included in Division), The Great Pony Challenge Classic will invite teams of three to compete in this fun class. Not only will it provide an opportunity for some team fun, it will also be placed individually – that it, results will count towards OHJA overall standings and year-end awards.

Pony riders are encouraged to have fun at this special event. Get creative! Come up with a team theme, pick your team colours, choose your teammates, and get your entries in! You can ask the show office to help you find a team.

Angelstone The Great Pony Challenge OHJA pony power series

OHJA Pony Power Series

Angelstone Tournaments is pleased to offer the OHJA Pony Power Series at the Great Pony Challenge. One round of the Small Pony, Medium Pony and Large Pony Division will be designed as a Handy course and scored under numerical scoring. This class is intended to encourage the development of rider skills at the same time as educating parents and riders with announced scoring. Handy course could consist of: rollback, trot fence,
hand gallop fence, bending line, halt, option fence, bounce, and direct line to/from a jump to the in gate. Scores will be based on traditional hunter criteria with an emphasis on style and handiness. Formal attire is not required for Qualifiers. Ponies will be required to jog.

The OHJA will provide special Pony Power ribbons and awards for these classes. One round of the Children’s Pony, Green Pony and Short Stirrup divisions at the Pony Power shows will be run with open scoring, OHJA ribbons and prizes. Provincial Award points will be awarded in these classes as per Equine Canada rules.

The winning team of three will be presented with the official Great Pony Challenge trophy during a ceremony at the end of the class.
