Fresh off a Successful European Trip,
Quentin Judge and HH Donatella Speed to Victory
Thursday Evening at Angelstone
August 22, 2014, ERIN, ONTARIO – Fresh off a successful European trip, Quentin Judge and HH Donatella sped to victoryย Thursday eveningย at Angelstone.
Thirty-four horses participated in the first round, with six horses advancing to the jump-off. Luibov Kochetova and Balou de Reventon started the jump-off with a slow clear that took them to a fifth-place finish.
Johnathan Millar and Calvin Klein jumped clear in time if 47.66 to take the early lead from Kochetova. Next in the ring was Leslie Howard with her number one mount Tic Tac, who blazed the track and set a time that looked unbeatable in 41.77, six full seconds ahead of Millar.
Though most assumed Howard had just won, Quentin Judge and HH Donatella had other plans, jumping clear in a time of 39.21 to secure the victory away from Howard. Denise Wilson finished third.
The US contingent is well-represented at Angelstone this week with 11 of the 34 starters crossing the border to compete at ‘The Champions’ this week.
The main event this week will be the $100,000 Champions Grand Prix Presented by Eric Lamaze on Saturday evening. The Grand Prix will run at 7 pm and be the first event held “Under the Lights” in Eastern Canada!
