CHRISTINE CARLSEN AND CHERRYBROOK SKYE BLUE CLAIM VICTORY

SEPTEMBER 27, 2013 โ€“ ROCKWOOD, ON โ€“ย Twenty-seven ponies gathered together at Angelstoneโ€™s Derby field to participate in the Jump Canada Pony Classic. The sun was out and shining as the small ponies got the class underway, soon to be followed by the mediums and the larges.

The ponies were all given the chance to compete in the first round of competition with only ten ponies returning for a second round. Grease Lightning and Isie Maly scored an 83 in the first round, setting them up for the second round nice. With an 82.5 in the first round, Christine Carlsen knew she had some ground to make up. โ€œOur second round was better than our first round but I was really happy with both trips.โ€ Returning for her second round Carlsen proved she could handle the heat and left the ring with a high score of 87!

Carlsen has an uncanny ability to keep her cool in high-pressure situations, which gives her that extra edge in two round classes. Trainer Peter Mulligan was proud of his student and her ability to check her nerves at the door, riding solely based on her skill to deal with what comes up in the show ring.

Cherrybrook Skye Blue is owned and ridden by Christine Carlsen and regularly shows in the large pony division. Carlsen only had great things to say about her superstar pony. โ€œHis barn name is Sky, he is so special to me. He knows he is really pretty and talented and is always trying to show off for the crowd. I love riding him!โ€

After two rounds of competition, Christine Carlsen and Cherrybrook Sky Blue took home the victory for the afternoon.ย ย Royale Glory and Emma Faulkner took home a well-earned second-place finish in the competitive classic. Ashley Keary rode confidently in the grass ring aboard My Wish and finished third overall. Congratulations to all of the Jump Canada Pony Classic competitors!
