BARAN EARNS THIRD CONSECUTIVE HUNTER CHAMPIONSHIP
AT ANGELSTONE IN 2013
AUGUST 12, 2013 โ ROCKWOOD, ON – Danielle Baran is currently at the midway point of the equestrian season at Angelstone Tournaments and has accumulated a number of notable wins that have included hunter championships in all three weeks, as well as reserve championships in two of three weeks.
The first two championships, as well as reserve championship, came on ‘Don’t Blink’, Danni’s leading Grand Champion horse at the RAWF in 2010.
Reserve the second week this season and champion this past week was ‘Vizcaya’, Danni’s longtime partner who has been OHJA circuit champion multiple times, RAWF grand champion in 2012 and Winter Equestrian Festival circuit champion in 2013.
Baran’s winning rounds continued on her horse ‘Say When’, with Darcy Hayes winning all four over fences classes, as well as the hack class in the Combined Hunter division this week – before Danni began showing him over the weekend.
‘Say When’ was the only Canadian owned hunter to qualify for the prestigious Hunter Spectacular class in Wellington this winter, featuring the top 32 hunters in the world.
“Danni is a big fan of showing at Angelstone”, said trainer Christian Sorensen of Sorensen Stables, “โฆthe top all-weather footing helps make a long season easier on the horses. At this show, our horses can be prepared, warmed up, and show on good footing every day, regardless of weather conditions.”
Sorensen added, “It is beneficial for the horses and riders to get the experience of bigger rings, grass, and great jumps. The facility really allows for top hunters to show their stuff and the riders to develop the skills necessary to win in any setting. The riders and horses leave riding and jumping better!”
Angelstone Tournaments continues during the final two weeks of August for the National I and II events, which will culminate with Angelstone’s Hunter Spectacular at the end of the month, where the region’s top hunter competitors will compete at the Angelstone stadium in a number of marque events. |
