Andrew Bourns wins the Open Welcome aboard
Karina Aziz’s Chacco’s Goldy

JULY 11, 2014 โ€“ ROCKWOOD, ON โ€“ Ireland’s Andrew Bourns rode two impressively fast clear rounds aboard Chacco’s Goldy, owned by Karina Aziz of Iron Horse Farms, beating out 20 other horse and rider combinations to win last night’s $8,000 FEI Open Welcome class

Chacco’s Goldy has been masterfully piloted this summer by Irelands Andrew Bourns, while Aziz recovers from ankle surgery. Aziz purchased the talented 9-year-old mare from Ilan Ferder just last spring and has big plans for her. “She’s got all the scope; were moving her up slowly, with the end goal of jumping her in the larger international classes.”

Karina was thrilled with Goldy’s performance last night; “This is a huge win for her career; winning at Angelstone against this field of top riders, is absolutely amazing. Andrew Bourns has done a fantastic job with her and I see her doing great things for us in the future.

Four horses jumped clear in the first round of the FEI Open Welcome. Nina Fagerstrom aboard flower continued her success at Angelstone with a well-deserved second-place finish. Russia’s Liubov Kochetova rode her beautiful stallion Balou Du Reventon to a third-place finish. Ainsley Vince rounded out the top four aboard Freida against the field of talented international competitors.

Angelstone will welcome our horses back to the EEC Grand Prix ring on Super Saturday in the $50,000 Mar-Co Contracting FEI Grand Prix.
