September 2, 2015 – ERIN, ON – We are excited to announce the three winners of the 2015 Canadian Young Horse Championship Finals Presented by Lothlorien.

There were 13 finalists competing in the 5 year old section, 16 competing in the 6 year old division and 29 horses in the 7/8 year old division. Horses competed over three rounds and a jump off over the week at the International. Each age group jumped for $15,000 in prize money generously sponsored by Lothlorien, King Ridge and Dutchmaster Construction.

  • 5Year Old Champion: Clivia & Bianca Lafontaine – CAN
  • 6 Year Old Champion: Elodie T & Erynn Ballard – CAN
  • 7&8 Year Old Champions: Up And Blue Chapelle & Leslie Howard – USA

Bianca La Fontaine also won the Leading Points Award with most points from 16 qualifiers in the 5 year old category. She finished 3rd with Calista, and was 4th with Boris 218 in the 7/8 year old category, and earned total $5,750 of prize money to lead the money winners at the finals. Erynn Ballard was 1st and 2nd in the 6 year olds and earned a total of $5,000.

  • 7&8 Year Old Champions: Delansa & Wim Janssen / 74 points

The series, generously sponsored by Lothlorien, splits young horse talent into three age categories; 5 year olds, 6 year olds, and 7&8 year olds. The three age categories compete in the series for the duration of the season, in order to qualify for the series finale held at the Angelstone International in October supported by sponsors Kingridge and Dutch Masters. Angelstone Tournaments is looking forward to further promoting young horse development during the venue’s future competitions in 2016 and would like to acknowledge the generous support of Lothlorien, Dutch Masters and King Ridge Stables for their commitment to furthering the development of Canada’s next generation of grand prix competitors.
